Marjorie A Shetler

Marjorie A Shetler, 97, of Geneseo, IL, passed away, February 2, 2024, at Allure of Geneseo.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Graveside services will be at Woodhull Cemetery. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd, Orion are assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. 

Marjorie was born on March 25, 1926, in New Windsor, the daughter of Ellen O (Anderson) and Henry A Nelson. She married Edward K Shetler on September 8, 1951, in Galesburg, IL at the First Lutheran Church. He preceded her on August 28, 1999. Marjorie was a member of Orion’s Woman’s Club and WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). She was also a loyal member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. Marjorie worked at the Mayo General Hospital in Galesburg during WWII. She later worked as an Assistant City Clerk in Galesburg, then she sold Avon products and worked as a Secretary at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sons James G of Baltimore, MD and Thomas E Shetler of Bloomington, IL and brother Keith L Nelson of Peoria, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ellen and Henry; husband Edward; sister Lois V Russell; brothers Howard C and Harold J.
