Mark D. Cummings, 89, of East Moline, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis.
A private family service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, at Esterdahl Funeral Home, and a private burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. There is no visitation. A livestream of the service will be available at esterdahl.com. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, Moline.
Mark was born on Oct. 28, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Roy and Bertha (Queen) Cummings. He married Janet L. Stein on Nov. 9, 1951, in Omaha, Neb. Mark served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War, achieving the rank of sergeant. He enjoyed a career as a photoengraver in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rockford, Ill., the Quad Cities, and Las Vegas. Mark remained a hard worker his entire life, and always found something to keep his hands busy. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the love of his life, Janet.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; his children John of Marietta, Ga., Marjorie (Scott) Rowlands of Silvis, Michael (Lisa) of Moline, and JoAnn Canfield of Punta Gorda, Fla.; his grandchildren Chad Rowlands of Silvis, Janine Cummings of Moline, Adam Rowlands of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Tess Hurt of East Moline, Romanie Brouard of East Moline, Luke Cummings of Moline, and Brianna Cummings of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and his 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.
