Marlene "Toosy" Ray Wheeler

Marlene Ray Wheeler “Toosy” passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023.

Per Marlene’s wishes, no services will be held at this time; cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Toosy was a lifelong resident of Hampton, IL. Until her final years when she lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Prophetstown, IL. Toosy was 1 of 7 children born at home to her parents Edward and Gerturde Wheeler of Hampton, IL. Toosy enjoyed visiting her parents and spending time with family and neighbors out under their big walnut tree. In her later years Toosy talked fondly about the special times she spent fishing with her dad on the Mississippi. Marlene married James (Jim) Sears in Babcock, IL and together they raised 2 children, Cindy, and James Jr; they later divorced.

Survivors include her children Cindy (Brett) Brill and Jim (Donna) Sears; grandchildren Adam (Megan) Stemper, Landon (Alecia) Sears, Jordan Sears, Leah Sears, Nicholas (Nikki) Armstrong, and Kory Armstrong; great-granddaughter Serenity Stemper; siblings Marvin Wheeler and Donna Nance.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Helen Coder, Bill Wheeler, Kenny Wheeler, and a baby sister who died at birth.

The family would like to thank the staff of Allure in Prophetstown for taking such good care of her in her final days and Hospice Compassus for keeping her as comfortable as possible.
