Marple "Bud" Newton, age 87, of Moline, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
Bud was born April 15, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA the son of George and Lenora Marple Newton. He married Freda V. Ebert on May 3, 1951 in Polo, IL. She preceded him in death on November 2, 1994.
Bud was employed as a communications specialist for the government, retiring in 1985. He retired from the Navy in 1964. Bud was a past master of the Quantico Masonic Lodge No. 350, Moline Lodge No. 1014 AF & AM, London Lodge No. 848, and an honorary member of Sherman Masonic Lodge 535. He was also a past patron of Orion Chapter 93 and Quantico Chapter 81 of Eastern Star, and High 12 and Scottish Rite.
