Mary Anselmi

Mary Katherine Anselmi, 73, of Coal Valley, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Mary was born on December 25, 1945, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Beal) Garcia.  She married Norman Anselmi on October 28, 1972, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline.  She retired in 2010 after over 30 years from Trinity, Rock Island where she worked as a dietary manager.  She previously taught a cooking class to clients at Robert Young.  Mary was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island.  She enjoyed cooking, baking and reading, especially mysteries.  She was a Bears and Fighting Illini fan, and she always cheered for the Navy.  Mary was always smiling and had a wonderful sense of humor.  She was a kind person who was a “mother to all”.  Above all, she loved her family and always put them first, always attending as many activities for her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she could.

Survivors include her husband, Norman; children, Crystal (John) Burnett, East Moline, Carmela (Larry) Ward, Homer Glen, IL, Troy Anselmi, East Moline, Matthew (Jenn) Anselmi, Moline; grandchildren, Jeremy, Melissa, Paris, Hunter, Andrew, Chase, Shaunie, Zander, Maddux and Christopher; great grandchildren, Lillian, Graclyn, Brinley, Addyson, Houston, Chandler, Carter, and Bentliegh; siblings, Dick, Theodore, Dean (Mickey), Robert, Gary (Janice), and Duke.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel, daughter, Allegra, her parents, and two brothers, Dan and Don.
