Mary was born August 23, 1926, in Cairo, Egypt, to Elias and Lucie Boulos. During WWII she met the love of her life, Warren V. Burdick, at a Red Cross Dance. After a few chaperoned meetings and correspondence by mail, Warren proposed. Mary bravely boarded a ship to the United States and joined Warren in his hometown of Moline, Illinois. They married on May 10, 1947, at Calvary Lutheran Church where they were both active members throughout their lives.
Mary enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home. She was a member of Mary Martha Circle at her church. She and other war brides formed a group they named "The French Club." She enjoyed playing Scrabble, putting on garage sales, and antiquing. She loved spending time with her family and always graciously prepared meals for anyone who entered her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Warren Burdick; sisters, Marguerite Bartell, Rose Ananian and Odette Wazir. She is survived by her three children, Sue (LaVerne) Knipe, Moline, Steve Burdick (Mary Ann Yriarte), San Clemente, CA, and Margo (Tim) Miller, Moline; Grandchildren, Laura Knipe, Rosemary (Josh) Roberts, Tim Miller (Amber Cousins), Steven (Kimmi) Miller; Great Grandchildren,Tyler Miller, Addison Miller, Ruth Roberts, and future baby girl Miller; her sister, Georgette Bazergui and brother, John (Marie-France) Boulos, Canada, and sister, Raymonde Mourad, Brazil; as well as numerous nieces and nephews all over the world including Darlene Bartell (Rick Sodeman), Rock Island.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ahmed Okba; her angel caregivers, Debbie, Precious, Jackie, Vicki, and Laura; and the staff of Beacon of Hope Hospice.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. The "Hostess with the Mostest" will be dearly missed, but Heaven will be a little brighter now that it has another angel.
