Mary Jane Coulter, 85 of Orion passed away May 1, 2007 at Oak Glen Nursing Home, Coal Valley.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., May 5th at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion with Rev. David Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home, Trinity Pathway Hospice or Orion Ambulance.
Mary Jane was born on September 7, 1921 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Clyde and Hester Roush Fassett. Mary Jane's mother died when she was very young and she was raised by Clyde and Peggy Fassett. She married Robert Coulter on June 7, 1945 in Orion.
Mary Jane was the head cook at C.R. Hanna Grade School in Orion for 21 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church, Orion VFW Auxiliary and the Orion Order of Eastern Star. Mary Jane enjoyed cooking, gardening, the outdoors and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughter Patsy and her husband David Crippen of Andover and son David of Swedona; 3 grandchildren James and Debra Coulter of Silvis, Amy and Scott Wright of Sheffield, IL and Daniel Crippen of Andover; 5 great-grandchildren; Hailey Coulter, Tanner Meyer-Wright, Isabelle Wright, Samuel Wright, Graham Crippen; one brother Lowell and Marge Fassett of Prescott, AZ and four sisters-in-law Margie Fassett of Pittsburgh, PA, Jeanie Smith of Orion, Mary Lou Dopler of Moline and Alice Coulter of Orion.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Peggy Fassett, 2 brothers Spencer and Lorrin and 2 sisters Blanche Fassett and Bessie Fassett.
