Mary Lou Phelps

Mary Lou Phelps, 87, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Aspen Rehabilitation and Health Care, Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to Holden Cancer Research Center in Iowa City, Shriner's Hospitals for Children, or to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Mary Lou was born on November 12, 1929, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of John and Margaret Hansen Kolb.  She married Donald Phelps on February 19, 1949, at First United Presbyterian Church.  She worked in marketing for Royal Neighbors of America for 27 years.

Mary Lou was a life member of the Moline VFW Post 2153, a member of First United Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the American Business Woman’s Association.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Phelps; children, Donald M. (Donna) Phelps, Moline, IL, and Daniel M. (Sandy) Phelps, Bettendorf, IA; 4 grandchildren, Candy (Jeremy) Heider, Erin Phelps, Andrew Phelps, D.J. Phelps; great grandson, Maddux P. Heider; sister-in-law, Darlene Kolb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John “Jack” Kolb; granddaughter, Stephanie Rose Marie Phelps.
