Mary Reed, 95, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mary was born on July 17, 1918, in Aledo, IL, the daughter of David E. and Zella (Guthrie) Spence. She married Walter K. Reed on May 7, 1938, and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1983. They had two sons, Walter Keith, Jr. and Clarence Dean Reed; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great great granddaughters.
Mary Reed was employed as a telephone operator in Aledo and a school crossing guard in Moline. She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Moline and a former member of the Salvation Army as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Illinois League of Municipal Employees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Clarence Spence; sisters, Mergie Smith, Edna Bigham, Edith Williams, Inis Bonynge and Florence Ranney.
