Mary F. Stephenson

Mary F. Stephenson, 72 of Moline passed away in her home Feb. 14, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory ,Ltd. in Moline. Visitation is on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded followed by burial in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice of Trinity Visiting Nurse Association.
Mary was born March 10, 1933 in East Moline the daughter of Loran and Martha (Colvin) Owen. Mary married Jack Stephenson on September 11, 1955 and they celebrated 50 happy years of marriage last year.
She was a 1950 graduate of Moline High School and attneded Peoria State Hospital School for Psychiatric Technicians. Mary worked for several years at the East Moline State Hospital caring for the mentally ill.
Mary enjoyed traveling, salmon fishing and camping. She once served as secretary of the Quinsippi Sam Club, was a former member of the Tri-county Travelers and was active with the Green Rock Senior Center. Mary was a long time Republican election judge and was an avid Cubs fan. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Moline where she taught children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Mary was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband Jack, daughter Pam (Peter) Lewis of Athens, IL., son David (Vicki) of Mishawaka, IN and daughter Kathy of Moline; two granddaughters Stefanie Lewis of Athens, IL., Sara (Justin) Tang and two grandsons Eric and Greg all of Fort Wayne, IN; brothers Russel (Heidi) Owen of Geneseo and Bill (Shirley) Owen of Fresno, CA. There are also several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded i n death by a son Russel , brothers Dick and George Owen and her parents.
