Memorial service for Mary Britson Wicks, 88 of Moline will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at the church Private inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. The family will greet friends before the service and at the luncheon following the service. Memorials may be made to the Mary Wicks Memorial Fund. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Mary died September 13, 2010 at Trinity Rock Island.
The former Mary Britson was born on August 31, 1922 in Roland, Iowa, a daughter of John and Clara Britson. She married Harold V. Wicks, November 11, 1943 in Roland.
Mary was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she took part in many organizations - cooking was one of the favorite things to do. Mary worked as a Realtor for 35 years, at Boeye Realtors and last at Mel Foster Co., Rock Island office. She enjoyed her church family and friends.
Survivors include sons Kirk (Novella) Wicks of Rock Island, Steven of Moline and Kevin and Julie of Keller, Texas, 8 grandchildren Douglas, Natalie, Jennifer, D'Ann, Kyle, Grant, Dane and Seth; great-granddaughters Selah Jay and Izabella Rae; her sister Ruth and Jay Geifer; sisters-in-law Lila Britson and Connie Wicks and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Susan, 3 infant sons, her parents, 3 brothers Max, James, John and sister Helen.
