Mathew William Brozovich, 83, of Oconomowoc, WI, formerly of Moline, IL, died September 21, 2013, at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7p.m. with a rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial is at the National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Moline American Legion Post 246 will present military honors. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mathew ("with one t") was born February 26, 1930, in Albia, Iowa to Frank and Pauline (Kauzlarich) Brozovich. He married Helene Rueth on June 27, 1953, in Rock Island with whom he enjoyed 54 years of marriage until she passed on September 17, 2007.
He was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph High School and served in the US Air Force. During his time in the service he was stationed in Omaha, Newfoundland and the Pentagon. Matt graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1960 with a BA degree in Physics.
Matt started his career at Bendix Aviation, later working at Union Supply, Magnavox, and Panasonic. A sales superstar and true people-person, Matt quickly rose up the ranks eventually retiring in May 1994 as Senior Vice President of Panasonic - USA.
In retirement Matt and Helene enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. They loved to travel and had the opportunity to see the world. In his later years Matt lived in Moline, IL, Fort Collins, CO and Oconomowoc, WI. He enjoyed playing cards, long drives in his car, and visits with friends and family. Those friends and family will remember his generosity, funny stories, infectious smile, unique hearty laugh and his dynamic and positive personality.
Survivors include his children, Vicki (John) Mueller, DeForest, WI, Ken (Cheryl) Brozovich, Delafield, WI, Cindy (Steve) Wilson, Pleasanton, CA, Chris (Joe) Cannon, Ft. Collins, CO, Jeff Brozovich, Davenport, FL, Caroline (Dennis) Oates, Poplar Grove, IL, and Katheryn (Scott) Anderson, Lindenhurst, IL; his sister, Gloria Renner, Glenview, IL, 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Helene, three sisters and seven brothers.
