Mathias "Jim" Kurtenbach, age 94, of Milan, died December 29, 2010 at Aspen Rehab & Health, Silvis, IL.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4th Street, Orion, Illinois. Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Western Township Cemetery.
Jim was born on September 19, 1916 in Lindsay, Nebraska to William and Mary Deterick Kurtenbach. He married Leola E. Erdmann on August 2, 1939 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2007.
Jim and his wife, Leola, farmed in rural township for many years. He began working at John Deere Harvester on December 11, 1963. He retired as an assembler from John Deere Harvester in East Moline on April 30, 1982. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Jim enjoyed playing cards and bowling.
