Matthew H. Andrae, 38, of Lynn Center, died October 22, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island after a courageous 2 month battle with esophageal cancer.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10a.m.Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation will be Monday from 3-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to the family for an education fund for his children. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Matt was born December 18, 1969 in Moline to Dale and Mary Lou (Taets) Andrae. He married Sarina Bowling on June 1, 1996 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. He was an electrician with the Local #145 IBEW where he was a member.
Matt was a devoted husband, father and loved spending time with his children and his little buddy Griffin. He was a member of Mary, Our Lady of Peace. He was also a member of Edwards River Whitetails Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, trapping, and coaching his children's sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Fighting Illini, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He loved his family, home, land and spending the holidays with his family. He was a very hard worker who was generous with his workmanship and was always joking and making others laugh. He especially enjoyed hunting with his best friend Brad Hauman and his brothers.
