Max Clifford Taylor, 98, of Moline, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Heartland Health Care Center - Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2020, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be one-hour prior to services and the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
Max was born on February 2, 1921, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Herman E. and Helen (Gray) Taylor. He married Mary L. Kepple on February 24, 1946, in Coal Valley and she preceded him in death on June 15, 2015. He previously worked construction throughout the Quad Cities area, retiring in March of 1981. He was a member of the Union Laborers Hall #309 for 32 years. Max was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from 1940-1946 during WWII. He enjoyed sports, bowling, and was an avid Cubs fan. He also liked to play cards and play the slots on the river boats.
Survivors include his children, Gary (Mary) Taylor, East Moline, Cheryl (Don) Ackerland, East Moline, and Jeff Taylor, Colona; grandchildren, Amy (Greg) Longoria, Tempe, AZ, Sarah (Ryan) Hall, Tempe, AZ, Michael (Rachel) Taylor, DeKalb, IL, Laura Taylor, East Moline; great grandchild, Dorian Taylor, East Moline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and four brothers, Eugene, James, Raymond, and Lester.
