Melissa A. Abrahamson

Melissa A. Abrahamson (Morrison), 61, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Orion, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer on March 13, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Viola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family, for a fund to be established.

Melissa Morrison was born on November 9, 1963, in Aledo, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Sandra (Lemon) Morrison. She graduated from Winola High School, class of 1981. She went on to attend Blackhawk College. Melissa married Duane Abrahamson on July 22, 1983, at the United Presbyterian Church in Viola, IL. They were married for many years and later divorced. She had been employed as a Whole Goods & Program Specialist at John Deere for 20 years.

Melissa enjoyed time with friends and family and looked forward to family traditions and gatherings. She enjoyed antiquing, crafting, traveling, vacationing to the sandy ocean beaches, gardening flowers, and working in her yard with her late beloved Cocker Spaniel, Macy. She was active in her community serving on the Orion St. Paul Lutheran Church Council for many years. Melissa will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Sandy Morrison of Viola; daughter, Ashley Abrahamson of Davenport; son, Jacob Abrahamson of Orion; siblings, Rebecca (Gary) Hofer of Sherrard and James Morrison on Viola; and numerous loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, uncles, sister-in-law Amy Morrison, and her beloved dog, Macy.

Melissa will be deeply missed but will remain forever in our hearts. Her family finds solace in knowing she is now at peace, watching over them from above.
