Melvin L. "Mel" Hanson, age 82, of Moline, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to The American Lung Association or The Humane Society.
Melvin L. Hanson was born October 15, 1928 in Moline, IL, the son of Melvin L and Laurine (Bingham) Hanson. He married Dorothy Penniston in Rock Island, IL; together they had Christine, Michael, Thomas, and Karen. Later, he married Kristi Rommann in Rock Island, IL.
Mel retired from the Moline Water Works. He worked as an electrical contractor after retirement. Mel enjoyed drag racing, riding his "Harley" and he loved his dog, Maggie
