Michael D. Covemaker

Michael D. Covemaker, 76, of Orion, passed away, June 27, 2024, at his home.

A Celebration of life will be held at later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Cremation rites will take place after services. Memorials may be made to the family. 

Michael was born on February 29, 1948, in Moline, IL, the son of Barbara A. (Hallene) and Robert D. Covemaker. Michael married Cathy L. Mosenfelder in Rock Island, IL on January 30, 1970. He worked at the John Deere Foundry, East Moline, and as a special inspector for John Deere Cylinder Works, Moline, working both jobs for a total of 33 years. He was also an EMT for almost 19 years, working for the Orion Ambulance service and part time at the Trinity Ambulance service. Michael loved bowling, Nascar, fishing, camping, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Covemaker; children Kevin (Heather) Covemaker, John (Tiffany) Covemaker, and Ellen (Jason) Covemaker-Hess; grandchildren Zachary (Tina Berodt) Covemaker, Anna (Aaron) Swift, Nathan Covemaker, and Haylie (Ryan Cartee) Covemaker; great-grandchildren Ayden, Asher, Abbot, and Adley; mother-in-law Mary Jane Huber; brother Robert (Judy) Covemaker; brother-in-law Tim (Debbie) Mosenfelder; and his fur-babies Frankie and Charlie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sandi Zurga; and father-in-law Jack Mosenfelder.
