Mike G. Patramanis, 82, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 31st Avenue, Rock Island, IL.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.

Mike was born on December 12, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of George and Afrodite Ganakakis Patramanis.  He graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids and subsequently from Coe College with a BA Degree in Political Science and Economics. While at Coe, he was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Societies. Mike was active in sports and lettered in tennis at both McKinley and Coe. After Coe, he attended the University of Iowa Law School where he graduated in 1959 with a Juris Doctor Degree.

Mike married Vickie Leousi on June 21, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois.  They were married for 54 years and had one son, Dr. George Patramanis, who was born in 1968.  George and his wife, Alexia, have three daughters, who have been a joy to their Papou.

In 1959, Mike began his legal career as Staff Counsel for Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids.  In 1964, he moved on to a position at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Government Attorney with the U.S. Army Weapons Command.  During his years with the Government, he worked for the various commands on the island holding positions of Chief and Acting Chief Counsel.  He received numerous honors and awards including the commander’s award for Civilian Service and the award for Meritorious Civilian Service.  He retired from the U.S. Army Field Support Command in June 2005 after 42 years of Government services.

Mike was licensed to practice law before the States of Iowa and Illinois and before the Supreme Court of the United States.  He was a member of the Rock Island County Bar Association and a former member of the American, Iowa, Linn County, and Illinois Bar Association.

He was an active member of Short Hills Country Club, where he was previously on the Board of Directors and had served as past President.  He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where he served on the Parish Counsel and as President of the Counsel.  Mike had been active in the Order of AHEPA and the Pancretan Association of America where he had served as legal Adviser and as 2nd Vice President of the National Organization.

Mike enjoyed playing golf, having made a hole in one, traveling and spending time with his family, and especially with his granddaughters.  He was an avid Hawkeye fan and was a season ticket holder for 55 years for football.

Mike is survived by his wife, Vickie, his son, George and his wife, Alexia, his three beautiful granddaughters, Madeline, Cecilia, and Lily, as well as nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.

Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island, Illinois, and Quad City Symphony Orchestra.
