Mildred "Mickey" E. Fernald, 99, of East Moline, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at East Moline Nursing & Rehab Center.
The Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory 6601 38th Avenue in Moline. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Heart Association.
Mickey was born on April 13, 1912 in Fulton, IL to Edward M. and Rachel E. (Hunter) Franks. She married Albert Badtke and of that union they had a son, Albert "Tony" Badtke. Mickey later married Donald Fernald on December 8, 1962 in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2001. Mickey worked as a payroll clerk for Moline Iron Works and then later went on to Budd Opticians in the Colona Green Rock area doing office and delivery work. She was a member of the Elim Covenant Church in Moline. Mickey was an avid card player belonging to card club for over 50 years. She also collected ceramic cats and enjoyed cooking. She was a Svithiod Club member and a former Member of the East End Club.

Several nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Joyce Franks, of Moline, who was like a daughter to her.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers; Clarence Franks in 1981 and Lloyd Franks in 1998; a step child; sisters Esther Meier and Florence Libberton.
