Monte R. "Butch" Blackwell age 58 of Rock Island died Monday, January 2, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
Monte was born February 20, 1947 in Moline the son of Charles and Willie Bee Lindley Blackwell. He married Judy Talbot on January 7, 1969 in Rock Island. He later married Mary McNeil Cooper on June 9, 2000 in Rock Island.
Monte was employed as a machinist at Franks Foundry in Moline for 26 years. He also worked at the Aledo General Grind for 13 years. Monte was an Army Veteran and member of the VFW in Rock Island for many years. He enjoyed camping , fishing and taking day trips. Monte's family and friends meant alot to him and he loved spending time with his grandkids .
