Myrle A. Schmidt

August 19, 1918 — January 12, 2008

Myrle A. Schmidt, 89, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2008 in St. Charles, MO., after a brief illness. He was born in Farmington, IA., on August 19, 1918, to Herman and Bertha Boyer. He moved to Moline, IL., in 1941 to work at International Harvester and retired there in 1982.
He served 1942-45 in the World War II Army Air Corps, in New Guinea. He returned
to wed Mary Rice in 1947. They had two children before her death in 1952. He married
Virginia Johnson in 1956, and they had two more children. They enjoyed 48 years together.
Myrle was an active member of the Moline Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed wood working and home gardening as hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 2005 and their infant so, Kevin;
also by his brother, Claude, and sister, Edna Williams. Myrle is survived by daughter
Joan Schacht, Chesterfield, MO.; sons, Paul Schmidt, Carlton, OR, and Timothy Schmidt, Far Hills, NJ. He is survived by his sister, Frances Grant, of Streator, IL.
He has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be made to the Evangelical Free Church or to Samaritan's Purse charity.
Funeral services will be held at the First Evangelical Free Church, Moline on January 19 at 11 am following a graveside service at Moline Memorial Park, with military honors by Moline American Legion Post #246 at 9:30am. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
