Nancy Owens

Nancy Owens, 85, of Orion, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, surrounded by family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1402 10th St, Orion, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Orion, with a rosary to be recited at 3:30 p.m.  Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Orion Food Pantry or the MOLOP Altar and Rosary Society.

Nancy was born on October 20, 1936, in Rock Island, the daughter of George and Irene (Auld) Strayer. Nancy graduated Rock Island High School in 1954. She married Willard Owens on November 19, 1955, at St Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1999.  She was previously employed at Jewel Foods.  Nancy was a devoted member of Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and was active with the Altar and Rosary Society.  She received The Pére Marquette Award for her outstanding contributions to the church from the Diocese of Peoria.

Survivors include her children, Theresa (Chris) Lemon, Coal Valley, Tracy (Steve) Weinberger, Bettendorf, Todd (Pam) Owens, Plainfield, IL, Jack (Diane) Owens, Orion; grandchildren, Anna Weinberger, Molly Weinberger, Tessa Weinberger, Andrew Owens, Luke (Shannon) Owens, Emily (Caleb) Williams, Lola Owens, Ashley (Tyler) Horberg, Alyssa Owens, and Will Owens; great grandchildren, Carter Williams and Clara Owens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Gregory Owens, grandchildren, Grace and Adam; siblings, Joanne Mielkey, George Strayer, Jr., and Jack Strayer.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Nancy’s family was everything to her and she will be missed by all.
