Nancy C. Poust, 85, of Orion, IL, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2017, at the Orion United Methodist Church, 407-12th Avenue, Orion. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church or to Hospice Compassus. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion, is assisting the family.
Nancy was born on September 5, 1932, in Moline, the daughter of James “J. Edward” and Mildred Marie (Bowen) Roberts. She married John J. “Jack” Poust on May 29, 1955, at the former Methodist Church in Orion. Nancy graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She began her teaching career in the Orion School District, teaching kindergarten, first grade and second grade, retiring in 1986 after more than 20 years. She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church where she was involved with the United Methodist Women, Queen Esther Circle. Nancy was a founding member of the quilting group at the church. She enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Ladies and was an avid reader, knitter and quilter. She along with her husband Jack were sixty plus year members of a 500-card club.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jack; children, Jed (Renee) Poust of East Moline, David (Amy) Poust of Forreston, IL; brother, Jim (Nancy) Roberts of Geneseo; grandchildren, Ashley Poust, Ben (Jessica) Poust, Seala Hite, Tyler Hite and Eli Poust; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn sister.
