Nancy B. Underwood

Nancy B. Underwood, 76, formerly of Orion, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery, Swedona. Memorials may be directed to the funeral home to defray costs. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family.

Nancy was born on November 19, 1946, in Galva, Illinois, the daughter of Earl R. and Catherine Rose (Bell) Copeland, Sr. She married Gerald “Willie” Underwood in May 1969 in Altona, IL. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2020. Nancy was previously employed in data processing at Bank Orion, retiring in 2020 after 55 years. She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church and was involved in Rural Youth of Henry County thru the Illinois Extension Office. She enjoyed reading and running her ceramic shop.

Survivors include her son, Allen “Cory” Underwood, East Moline; sister, Marsha (John) Tock, Lenore, IL; brother, Earl R. (Carolyn) Copeland, Jr., Oneida; sister-in-law, C. Diane Larson Hurst Copeland, Galesburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Jim.
