Naomi Swanson

Naomi Sandra Swanson, 82, of Moline, IL, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018, in Davenport.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave, Moline. Visitation will be an hour prior at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Naomi was born on February 28, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Erling) Niemiec. She married Courtney Evar Swanson on June 21, 1953 in Chicago, and he preceded her in death. She was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal as a computer analyst for 21 years and was a 45-year member of the Blackhawk Valley Region SCCA. She served in a variety of leadership and volunteer positions. Naomi was also an avid reader, loved history and researching family genealogy.

Survivors include her children, Courtney Swanson Jr., Moline, Heidi (Stephen) Chick, Columbia, MO, Greg (Betsy) Swanson, Moline, Heather (Dave) Ketron, Neptune Beach, FL, Dana Swanson, Mead, NE, and Danielle (Andrew) Norman, Fulton, MO; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren; brother, Roger (Blanche) Niemiec, Beaufort, SC; brother-in-law, David Swanson, Honolulu, HI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Courtney Swanson Sr., and her parents.

Naomi’s family extend their heartfelt appreciation to the healthcare professionals at Unity Point Health Trinity, Rosewood Care Center, and Select Specialty Hospital for the outstanding and compassionate care they provided over the past few months.
