Nelda Elice Pollner

Nelda Elice Pollner, 89, of New Boston, IL, died Sunday, October 8, 2017, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal.  Memorials may be made to the New Boston Methodist Church or Arrowhead Ranch.

Nelda was born on September 21, 1928, in Seymour, IA, the daughter of Ellis C. and Wilma N. Miller Gooding.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Augustana College.  She married Monty Pollner on July 13, 1952, in Hampton, IL.  Nelda went on to work as a medical transcriptionist for Internal Medicine Associates in Davenport, IA, for more than 15 years, retiring in 1991.

Nelda belonged to New Boston’s Women’s Group, Mercer County HCEA Home Extension, and United Methodist Women at New Boston Methodist Church.  She was the past president of both the Scott County Chapter of A.A.M.A. and Iowa State Society of A.A.M.A.

Formerly, Nelda was a member of Scott County Medical Assistants Association and Salem Lutheran Church in Moline, where she served on various committees and sang in the choir.

Nelda enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Monty Pollner, New Boston, IL; sons, Randy (Janet) Pollner, Moline, IL, and Tracy (Paula) Pollner, Monument, CO; daughter, Heather (Gary) Reardon, Ottawa, IL; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Alan (Carole) Gooding, Sycamore, IL; 2 sisters, Guelda Reynolds, Hampton, IL, and Linda Sullivan, Rock Island, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ansel and Ellison Gooding.
