Nellie S. Johnson, age 95, of Moline, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Nellie was born May 6, 1913 in Milan, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Johnston) Simmon. She married Sophus L. Johnson on June 26, 1937 in Milan.
Nellie was employed for 20 years as a key punch operator at the Rock Island Arsenal Weapons Command Office, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and their WELCA Phoebe Unit and Senior Citizens Group. She was also a member of AARP, a life member of National Federation of Retired Federal Employees, Quad City Botanical Center, and Plus 60 Club.
