Nicholas "Nick" C Tertipes

Nicholas “Nick” C. Tertipes, 80, of Warsaw, MO, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline, IL.  Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Coal Valley Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family.

Nick was born on January 22, 1938, in Moline, IL, the son of Louis and Corinne Bailey Tertipes.  He married Mary Jo Smolenski on May 3, 1958, in Milan, IL.  She preceded him in death in 1997.  He worked for many years at Flicks, J&B meats, Ran-Com, Show Me Manufacturing, was the Fire Chief in Coal Valley, and owned Forthview Resort.

Nick was a long-time member of the Sons of the American Legion post 217, in Warsaw, MO.  He was an accomplished pilot, who loved flying, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and having fun with his family and friends, and especially time with his great granddaughter.

Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Beach, and Jolene (Tony) Newman; grandsons, J.P. (Casey) Beach and Sonny Fink; great granddaughter, Brielle Beach; brother-in-law, Jim (Bonnie) Smolenski; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; his parents, Louis and Corinne Tertipes; and his brother, Gary Tertipes.
