Nina F. Cowan, 88, of Rock Island, died November 29, 2009 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Animal Control and Care.
Nina was born February 15, 1921 in Moline to Milton and Laura Stone. She married Cy Cowan on Oct. 1, 1942 in Orion. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1992.
Nina loved bird watching, cooking for others and gardening. She enjoyed watching sunsets and jet vapor trails.
She is survived by sons Kenneth Cowan of Hawaii, Steven Cowan of Davenport and Thomas Cowan of Rock Island; Grandsons Neil Cowan, Adam Cowan, Andy Cowan and Brad Cowan; 2 great grandchildren and 2 brothers and one sister. She is preceded in death by three sisters.
