Opal McMahon

Opal McMahon, formerly of Moline, died November 25, 2009 at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Opal had lived at the Extended Care Unit of Hammond Henry Hospital since May of 2008.
As per Opal's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 meeting at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Rock Island County or the Extended Care Unit of Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Opal Randerson was born September 7, 1920 in Woonsocket, South Dakota to Guy and Lola Randerson. She married John McMahon on October 15, 1941 in Sioux Falls, SD.
Opal retired in 1983 from Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County as Comptroller after 10 years of service. She had previously worked for KSTT Radio and Deere and Company Administrative Center.
Opal enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, yard work and frogs. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, past Board of Director of the Voluntary Action Center in Moline and Treasurer for three years for the AFSCME Retirees-Sub-chapter 74 and a member since its inception. Opal was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline.
Survivors include a sister, Ruby Sarver, of Davenport, two special nieces, Jill Madden of Geneseo and Ginger Kebler of Rock Island, and nine other nieces and nephews. Her parents and two brothers, Orval and Fay Randerson, preceded her in death.
