Orpha E. Bergstrand, age 89, formerly of Moline, IL died Saturday, November 3, 2007 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 1p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 with a visitation one hour prior at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Animal Aid Humane Society of Moline, 239 50th street.
Orpha was born December 23, 1917 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Hjlmar and Anna (Lindblad) Green. She married Alvin W. Bergstrand on April 25, 1942 in Moline. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1989. A brother, Howard, and a sister, Francis, also preceded her in death.
Orpha was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline as well as the Phoebe Unit of the Church. She was an active member of her community throughout her life, and enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband for many years prior to his death. Her final three years were spent in Louisville with her son and his family where she enjoyed listening to bluegrass music in the park, evening walks in the neighborhood, and weekend yard sales.
