Orville R. Tschopp, 91, of Coal Valley, IL, died Sunday, April 02, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Memorials may be made to the Coal Valley Presbyterian Church.

Orville was born on May 5, 1925, in Homestead, IA, the son of Reinhard and Helen Burgy Tschopp.  He married Naomi Forsythe on March 2, 1947, in Rockford, IL, and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2000.  He worked as a technician for Illinois Bell for 40 years, retiring in 1987.

Orville was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. during WWII and later serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He was a member of Coal Valley Presbyterian Church, and the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Orville was a former Trustee for the Village of Coal Valley and a former member of the Lion’s Club of Coal Valley.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and traveling.  Orville was an active member of the Illinois Bell Telephone Pioneers who donate shoes to kids and repair talking books for the blind.  He was a strong family man who loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Teresa Hora (L. Thomas), Tomball, TX, Gregory Tschopp (Julie), Coal Valley, IL, and Sara Lampe (Ricky), East Moline, IL; 9 grandchildren, Rob Hora (Tracy), Eric Hora, Paul Hora, Seth Hora (Sherri), Cassandra Szalo (Keiji), Cori Carnicle (Jim), Alex Tschopp, Jacob Lampe, and Tyler Tschopp (Heidi); 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Tschopp, Coal Valley, IL, and Raymond Tschopp, Silvis, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Reinhard, Luella, Leona, and Norma.
