Patrick F. King, age 62, of East Moline died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3205-60th Street, Moline. Visitation is from 2:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Cursillo & Believers Together Center at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Pat was born March 13, 1949 in Moline, the son of Ernest and Lenore Van King. He married Karen Houlahan on March 6, 1976 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Midlothian, IL.
Pat was employed as a systems analyst at John Deere Parts Distribution Center for 32 years, retiring in 2008. He was a 1967 graduate of Alleman High School. Pat was a Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a longtime member at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona, and was a member at Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline and the Cursillo family. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Pat coached and refereed soccer for the East Moline/Silvis Soccer Club for many years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and mushroom hunting with his best friend Jimmy. Pat loved being with his family and was fondly known as "Boppa" to his grandchildren. Even after retirement, Pat was still busy doing projects; he was "everyone's handyman". He was extremely proud of his family and was an amazing husband, father, brother and grandfather.
