Paul W. Boettcher, age 88, of Moline, passed away September 19, 2008 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23rd at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd, 6601-38th Avenue, Moline with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to his church, Trinity Lutheran in Moline, the Illowa Council of Boy Scouts of America or Intouch Day Care Center.
Paul was born on December 27, 1919 in East Prussia, Germany the son of Fritz and Freda Boettcher. He married Beverly Bonnell on November 15, 1942.
Paul attended schools in Moline and entered military service in 1943. He served as an aircraft maintenance inspector in Italy's 15th Air Force as Tech. Sergeant. He retired from International Harvester Company in East Moline from the Product Quality Department with 30 years of service in 1979. He also served on the Council of Trinity Lutheran Church and Illowa Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was president of the Evening Optimist Club of Moline and also served on the Advisory Council of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois. He belonged to the 15th Air Force Association, American Legion, Plus 60 Club, AARP, Up & Adam Eve Club, Photography Society of America, and Scouts on Stamps Society. He was active in Boy Scouts for more than 50 years and received the Silver Beaver and Lamb Awards. He was always interested in Intouch for the Older Adults, photography, church related projects and did extensive traveling. For many years, he was an avid square dancer.
Survivors include his wife Beverly, nephews Richard Weybright and his wife Cheryl and Jeffrey Weybright of Rock Island and great-nephews Michael and Thomas Weybright.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Laura Medved.
