Pearl Cruser, 87, of Moline, died Wednesday, May 26, 2016, at Park Vista, East Moline.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate. Memorials may be made to her church, First Baptist Church, Moline, or the American Heart Association.
Pearl was born November 16, 1928, in Moline, the daughter of Jim and June (Bowman) Haley. She married Ernest F. Cruser on May 3, 1975, in Moline. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1988.
Mrs. Cruser worked mainly for the former Birtman Electric Co., Rock Island, and the former Lutheran Hospital, Moline, doing payroll work. She retired in 1976.
Thereafter, Mr. and Mrs. Cruser became foster parents for Bethany Home, caring for 37 newborn babies over the following 11 years. Also, Pearl had been a mentor to nearly 2 dozen children during her adult life.
In recent years, her time had been spent collecting children’s clothes to give away wherever and whenever they were needed.
Survivors include a step daughter, Victoria Flesher, Moline; two step grandsons, David Flesher, Florida, and John Flesher, Nevada; two step great granddaughters; 6 nephews and 2 nieces, living throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bruce E. Haley, Sr.; 2 sisters, Bessie M. Pomeroy and Daisy M. Lenth; and one nephew.
