Pearl Freese, 100, of Friendship Manor, Rock Island died January 5, 2006 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1p.m. Monday, January 9, 2006 with a visitation one hour prior to service time at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor Employees Appreciation Fund.
Pearl was born August 21, 1905 in Moline to Herman and Ida (Letcher) Hedeen. She attended Moline schools. She moved with her parents to a farm in Moscow, IA in 1921. She met her future husband, Fritz, on her family's farm. She married Fritz Freese in 1925 in Muscatine, IA. They moved to Rock Island and raised their two boys. Fritz preceded her in death in 1971.
Pearl was employed at the former Woolworths working at the lunch counter. Later she worked in the laundry for the Rock Island Railroad.
In 1982 she moved to Friednship Manor. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting until her eyesight became too poor. She also enjoyed talking to other residents and the staff at Friendship Manor.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Clarence Freese and infant son Daniel Freese who died at birth. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Ory and Ralph Hedeen.
