Pete Spurgetis, 76 of Rock Island died January 1, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Pete was born March 21, 1929 in Silvis, IL to Theodore and Maria (Perivolarakis) Spurgetis. He married Evelyn Belknap in 1954 in Knox County, IL. They later divorced.
Pete was a manager for 35 years at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Muscatine, IA. He retired in 1994.
Pete was an U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and was discharged honorably.
Pete was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. He was a workaholic but was always the first to volunteer to help his family and friends. He was always kind and didn't have a mean bone in his body. He was a loving father, brother and uncle.
