Peter Natsis

August 27, 1927 — February 9, 2006

Peter Natsis, age 79 of Moline passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4900 Kennedy Drive, East Moline. Visitation is on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. with a Trisagion (Prayer) Service at 5:30 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.
Pete was born August 27, 1927 in Navasota, TX the son of Nick and Ruby Mathis Natsis. He married Cleone Kipping on June 21, 1947. .
Pete was a route salesman for Coin Baking Co. for 20 years, and was later employed at John Deere Harvester Works retiring in April 1991. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Pete was also a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline; the Rock Island Evening Lion's Club; the Teamsters; and the UAW Local 865 @ John Deere Harvester Works.
Pete was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed water skiing and listening to music.. One of his greatest loves was Western Big 6 basketball, especially the Moline Maroons. Pete drove many of the teams for their summer travel programs and had fond memories of the many players and coaches he met, over the years.
Pete was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame as a "Friend of Basketball." He was also an honorary member of the Moline "M" Men's Basketball and Football clubs.

Memorials may be made to Moline Basketball Association or the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church,East Moline.
