Phillip Stephen Olson, 73, of Rock Island, died May 31, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services are 11a.m. June 4, 2007 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline where he had been a member since 1959. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline.
Phillip was born January 13, 1934 in Moline to Alfred and Luverne (Motzer) Olson. He married Arla Cooper on August 21, 1956 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline.
Phillip began his career working for Arthur Andersen in Chicago. For over 25 years he was Director of Partners in Job Training for Rock Island County retiring in 1997.
Phillip graduated from Augustana College in 1961 with an accounting degree. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran and played on the Air Force golf team. He loved golf very much and when he was 18 he won the Dispatch Golf Tournament during which he made one of his numerous holes in one. He enjoyed, studying, researching and traveling to Civil War sites. He was also interested in geneology and loved jazz music.
Phillip got great joy from his grandchildren and loved watching them participate in baseball and other sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Warren Olson.
