Phyllis M. Bassett, 68, of Davenport, passed on to heaven Saturday April 6, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 13, 2024, at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday April 12th at the church. Private family inurnment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Homewood Church.
Phyllis was born on March 26, 1956, in New York City, the daughter of George and Marie (Zuiderwyk) Schorr. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Phyllis married Thomas M. Bassett on August 13, 1988, in Huntington Station, New York. She had previously served as a missionary in France for 27 years. Phyllis loved fashion, music, and being with her beloved cats. She also liked to spend her time reading and cooking. She served in the music ministry at her church, and volunteered at Life’s Little Treasures (Right to Life) and at World Relief.
Survivors include husband, Thomas; siblings, Barbara (Lou) Rivera, Kathy (Lee) Wetzel, Tom (Kim) Schorr, Ann (Richard) Zacheeo; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Cliff Schorr.
