Phyllis J. Johnson, age 61, of Andover, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at her residence after an 8 year courageous battle with breast cancer.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover, IL. Visitation is Wednesday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. Burial of cremains will be at Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church Altar Guild, or The Humane Society of Henry County. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Orion is assisting the family.
Phyllis was born August 27, 1950 in Moline, the daughter of Kenneth and Betty Bjork Josephson. She married Thomas W. Johnson on April 3, 1971 at Augustana Lutheran Church.
Phyllis was a 1968 graduate of Orion High School. She also was a graduate of the Galesburg School of Practical Nursing in 1969, and became an LPN. Phyllis was employed at Moline Public Hospital and at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was a Suzanna Group member, and past president. Phyllis was an active member at Augustana Lutheran Church, and a member of the altar guild. She was also an active member of The Quad Cities Breast Cancer Support Group, and The Kramer Society. Phyllis loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and her cat, Blackie. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
