Raymond Glenn Andree, 80 formerly of Orion and Geneseo, died November 4, 2005 at Illinois Veteran's Home, Quincy, IL.
A memorial service will be 1p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo with military honors conducted by the Orion American Legion Post 255 and the Orion VFW Post 143. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion or for the Orion Community Veterans Monument.
Raymond was born December 1, 1924 in Geneseo to Herman L. and Tillie Swanson Andree. He married Maridean R. Gould on September 11, 1948 in Orion. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2001.
Raymond worked for over 30 years in the steel room where he was a crane operator for International Harvester, East Moline. He also worked as a Union Steward at International Harvester. He retired in 1980. He also had a small acreage of land that he farmed outside of Orion.
Raymond was a WWII Navy SeaBee veteran serving in the United States 33rd Naval Construction Battalion and was stationed in the South Pacific. He received the American Area Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Bronze Star.
Raymond was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion where he served on the Stewardship Committee, was a church greeter and served on other various committees. In earlier years he helped coached Little League and was a Boy Scout Leader. He was a member UAW Local #1304, East Moline, Orion American Legion Post #255 and Orion VFW Post #143. He loved hunting, trapping, planting trees, gardening and nature.
