Raymond "Ray" I. Styrlund

Raymond “Ray” I. Styrlund, 106, of East Moline, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st St., Moline.  Visitation will precede the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church of Moline.

Raymond was born on August 14, 1911, in Viking, MN, the son Charles I. and Emily (Lindquist) Styrlund.  He married Virginia A. Erickson in Brainerd, MN, on April 10, 1937; she preceded him in death in 2010.  He worked as a precision tool grinder at Reynolds Engineering of Rock Island, for 20 years, and at M.A. Ford in Davenport, retiring in 1976.  Raymond was a member of First Covenant Church in Moline, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, youth counselor, Deacon, and Trustee.  He sang beautiful tenor with the Swedish Chorus, and loved golfing, bowling, and softball, and especially the Cubs.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharyl Green, Irvine, CA, and Beverly (Ron) Bjork, Moline; son, Chuck (Laura) Styrlund, Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Randy, Kristin, Scott, Brad, Rhonda, Lindsey, and Christopher; and great grandchildren, Carissa, Courtney, Rian, Stefan, Burghandy, Allison, Eric, Matthew, Andrew, and Adam.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; sister, Alyce Greenly; and his parents.
