Rev. Kenneth L. Richardson, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 13, 2023. He was the son of Rachel and Kent Richardson of Moline, IL. Upon graduating from Moline High School, in 1957, he met his wife of 64 years, Barbara W. (Skelton) Richardson. They were joined in marriage on October 6, 1958. They made the claim of being the “original” Ken and Barbie.
At the young age of 7, Ken had the desire to become a minister. After marriage, Ken followed that calling and graduated from Bible Missionary Institute, and later became a pastor/evangelist with The Church of The Nazarene. While pastoring the Coal Valley Nazarene and Moline Community Nazarene Church, Ken was employed at Moline Montgomery Elevator as an electrician. After his retirement, Ken traveled to many Midwest Nazarene Churches to hold revivals. During his lifetime calling as a pastor, countless lifetime friendships were established. Simply said, Ken was very compassionate and cared for people, cherished his family and most of all, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his loving wife; brother, Richard E. (Diane) Richardson; daughter, Laura (David) Anderson; son, Robert (Carolyn) Richardson; grandchildren, Ashely, Noah, Boris, Erica, Justin, and their spouses; many great grandchildren and great great grandchild; nephews and special cousin, Rex Lothridge.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to extend great appreciation to all the staff at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL, for the dedication, compassion, and friendship during the care of their father for the last 14 months. Their sincere empathy up to the moments of his passing was heartfelt. The family extends appreciation to Genesis Hospice Care for their guidance, support, and sincere kindness.
