Richard A. Anderson, 81, of Moline, died June 26, 2008 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. There will be an Elk service on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. followed by a visitation from 2-5 at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Animal Care and Control (4001-78th Ave, Moline) or a charity of choice.
Dick was born July 23, 1926 in Moline to Alvin G. and Velma (Delano) Anderson. He was an Army Air Force veteran serving in WWII. He later married Stephanie Rashevich on September 20, 1952 in Gary, IN.
Dick was an instrument repairman for Band Box Music Shop, Moline. He worked from 1963-1986 as an inventory management specialist in the Army Weapons Command at the Rock Island Arsenal. During both his employments he was a dance band musician.
Dick was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline. He was a former music director at the Q.C. Music Guild. He was a present member of the Rock Island Elks #980 and Past Exulted Ruler for the former Moline Elks #556. He was also a member of Phi Omega Phi Fraternity at Augustana College. He enjoyed playing cards and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.
