Richard E. Carlson, age 86, of Moline, formerly of Orion, died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th Street, Orion, IL. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church where he was a member.
Richard was born July 1, 1926, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Abner F. and Louise C. (Kuelper) Carlson. He attended Orion schools and married Helen C. Calcutt on September 22, 1945, in Orion. Richard and his dad owned Carlson Trucking. He later worked for IHC Farmall as an Equipment Operator, retiring in 1980 after 32 years. Richard enjoyed his cottage and fishing trips to Birchwood, WI. He and his wife trailered to Florida, Texas, and Arizona prior to purchasing property in Arizona where they wintered for several years.
