Richard F. Edlund, 81, of Moline, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2010 at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704-38 St., Rock Island. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 Ave., Moline. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by the Moline American Legions Post # 246. In Dick's memory a donation may be made to Christian Friendliness.
Richard was born October 26, 1929 in Rock Island, the son of Frank and Ellen (Carlson) Edlund. He married Nancy Nichols on April 5, 1958 in Moline.
Dick was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was an installer/repairman for Ameritech, the former Illinois Bell, retiring in 1992 after 36 years. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Dick loved to travel and had taken many trips with Nancy out west where he enjoyed watching the antelopes, wolves and elk at Yellowstone. He also had taken many wonderful cruises with his family. He was an avid reader and he especially enjoyed Stephen Ambrose books, and he loved all types of music. Dick had the beautiful gift of caring for others and had been blessed with a wonderful family.
