Richard "Kyle" John III

Richard "Kyle" John III passed away at his home on December 5, 2008 after a courageous five year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. He was surrounded by his family. A celebration of Kyle's life will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2008 from 6 to 9 P.M. at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. All family and friends are welcome to come and share their 'Kyle" stories. His Grandfather, Richard, was raised on the farm which later became Deere Run. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to "Friends of Kyle". Anyone wishing to make a donation can bring it to the celebration or stop in at any U.S. Bank location. The proceeds will be given to cancer research. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Kyle was born on April 2, 1981 in Silvis, Illinois to Rick and Patty John. Kyle attended Roosevelt and Jane Addams Elementary schools. Kyle was involved in many school activities in grade school. Kyle went on to attend Wilson Middle School. In 8th grade Kyle was student government President. Kyle graduated from Moline High School in 1999. He was proud of his four years of service in student government. He was an extraordinary soccer keeper earning a varsity letter three times. During Kyle's last varsity game, he attained celebrity status throughout the state. He owed the notoriety to his noble support of his fellow teammate.
After high school Kyle had many great accomplishments. He started a boat maintenance business with his beloved cousin Doug called Starboard Marine. During the off-season Kyle would make numerous trips to his father's office. On one fateful afternoon Kyle met the love of his life, Karie Anderson. Karie was working at the office at this time. After attending Black Hawk College, Kyle and Karie decided to move to San Diego. In San Diego Kyle enrolled at the University of San Diego. While at U.S.D. Kyle's life was put on hold to battle cancer. In the summer of 2008 Kyle gave his heart away to Karie. Kyle loved Karie more than anything. He was a great husband because he made everything fun, had a great heart, and was a fantastic chef.
To Kyle's friends he was the life of the party. He had a natural ability to attract people to him. Kyle and Karie's place was always the epicenter of the party world. Another reason Kyle was a once in a lifetime friend was his honesty and caring for the well being of others. Kyle didn't want to leave anyone out. He was a "BIG TENT' kind of guy.
To Kyle's family he was amazing. He was the best husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and uncle. He was the catalyst of his family. During Kyle's last year's he was more concerned with the well being of his family. He never complained about the hand he was dealt. He played high stakes and loved every minute of it. His big smile lit up every room he entered.
To the community, Kyle instilled the very best in people with his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and his knack for being a dare devil. Kyle was the real deal often replicated in the movies but, never duplicated. Kyle gave many speeches on behalf of cancer awareness. He was able to give justice to these speeches because he fought a courageous fight with the disease, unlike any other seen in the history of man.
The John Family wants to send out a special thanks to Dr. Costas Constantinou, Laura Hoffman, and the caring staff, Dr. Pete Anderson of M.D. Anderson, and all the people who lent Kyle support. All of you truly made Kyle's life easier.
Kyle is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Arlene John and maternal grandmother Helen Milligan. He is survived by his wife Karie John, father Rick John of Port Byron, mother Patty John of Moline, siblings Emilee John of Los Angeles, Brendan John of Moline, paternal grandfather Richard John of Moline, and maternal grandfather Kelmer Milligan. He also has a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
