Richard L. Kirchhoff, age 82, of Moline, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private graveside services will be held at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd. Moline is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Richard was born June 18, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the son of LeRoy and Edna (Haak) Kirchhoff. He married Sandra Stackpole on January 26, 1957 in Chicago.
Richard was employed as a Social Studies teacher with the Moline School District for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He also taught in Crystal Lake, IL for 3 years. Richard was a Korean Conflict army veteran. He was a World War II Historian. In his younger years, Richard enjoyed playing tennis, weight lifting and reading.
